AIT is pleased to announce that the following laboratories have the necessary facilities, equipment, and at least one analyst certified to implement EPA Method-6800 compliant elemental and speciated Chromium analysis. The process by which AIT qualifies and certifies each laboratory, under its “proficiency certification program”, involves an interactive approach which includes evaluation of the laboratory’s capabilities, availability of at least one analyst trained and capable of running an ICP-MS and a front-end LC separation capability. Then, through on-site and off-site training, and using a set of NIST-traceable natural standards, isotopically spiked standards and a combination of matrices with different levels trivalent and hexavalent Chromium concentrations specifically designed for the certification process, the analyst is asked to perform analyses in triplicates and report the data to a reference laboratory (RL) that is Method-6800-certified by AIT and New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection. The analyst is certified when the RL confirms that reported data are within an acceptable window of accuracy. For additional information about the CAPTK™ product line, please contact the company.
TM - CAPTK is a trademark of Applied Isotope Technologies and refers to the Chromium Analysis Proficiency Testing Kit associated with the AIT’s certification program associated with Chromium analysis.

AIT provides advice, information, technical
support and IDMS/SIDMS proficiency testing products that enable
environmental analytical laboratories to implement speciated
analyses using IDMS and SIDMS methods. Typically, related AIT
products and services include the following:
- Evaluation of analytical capabilities of the applicant laboratory
from SIDMS perspective. The EPA Method 6800 (SIDMS) utilizes an Inductively
Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) and requires, at the front-end,
IC or HPLC separation system with non-metallic components. After the
evaluation, AIT provides its conclusions and recommendations. For laboratories
that are yet to automate injection, AIT recommends and provides information
about an auto-injector and separation system made by Metrohm-Peak (www.mp-ic.com).
This system is compatible and can be integrated with most ICP-MS instruments.
- Method 6800 proficiency testing and certification for IDMS (total
chromium and mercury analysis), using pre-spiked standards.
- Method 6800 proficiency testing and certification for IDMS and SIDMS
(speciated metal analysis) using soil extract standards.
- Method 6800/3060A/3052 proficiency testing and certification for
IDMS and SIDMS using solid matrice.
Note: The EPA
Method 6800 (SIDMS) utilizes an Inductively Coupled Plasma
Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) and requires, at the front-end,
an IC or HPLC separation system with non-metallic components.
After the evaluation, AIT provides its conclusions and recommendations.

system made by Metrohm-Peak (www.mp-ic.com). This system is

NOTICES:
- It is important note that AIT's Method
6800 proficiencey testing service does not replace certification
protocols that are required by environmental agencies in
individual states in the US.
- SIDMS is a patented technology. AIT is the only company authorized
to make and sell SIDMS-based products.
